When I was in my early twenties trendy clothes were more important to me than comfort. My attitude to trendy clothes changed a bit when I reached the age of around thirty. It isn’t that I have stopped caring about trendy clothes. I still like to look stylish when I am out and about. The thing is that now I want to feel good too. For instance in winter I wear trendy clothes that are also warm. Ten years ago I would not have minded wearing a coat that didn’t keep me warm enough so long as I looked good.
Similarly during the summer months I cared more about trendy clothes than being able to relax. Hence I did not mind wearing a really short skirt even if it meant having to be constantly mindful of how I sat so that nobody could see up it. Nowadays I still wear trendy clothes in keeping with the season every summer but I make sure I can sit how I please while I am wearing them. Here is a good example of the kind of trendy clothes I like to wear during the summer months:

The drawstring gauze pants the model in the above picture is wearing look chic and trendy yet they are incredibly comfortable and ideal for hot weather. I know this to be true because I own a couple of pairs of drawstring pants that are almost exactly the same.
